Sustainability is part of our DNA as a company, and is present throughout the life cycle of our power plants: development, construction and operation, as well as in our ongoing relationship with our stakeholders.

Our sustainability strategy is structured in three main focuses: Sustainable Governance; Allies of our Employees and Contractors; and Integration to the Territory, each of which is guided by a purpose, and is linked to different Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the UN. At Aela Energía, we are committed to contributing to the fulfillment of eight of the seventeen SDGs.

Governance is at the core of these pillars. The base of it all is the code of conduct, complemented by a set of policies that provide principles and values that inspire our employees and contractors. In parallel, Aela has a well-structured organization chart for decision making and ESG performance monitoring. It starts in the work of each collaborator, under the daily supervision of site managers, monthly contractor meetings, and close supervision of the ESG committee, which show a board and management committed to sustainability.

Both our code of conduct and our social, environmental and safety policies are aligned with the highest international standards (Good International Industry Practices and IFC Performance Standards, ILO Convention 169 and Equator Principles), and are the basis of our Integrated Management System based on ISO 14001 and 45001 standards.

In addition, our performance in these aspects is regularly audited by our financing banks and ISO standards certifiers, and we have a mechanism for on-site consultations and complaints for communities and collaborators, and another channel for complaints with a 24/7 hotline, in order to have a complete verification of our compliance with our commitments to all our stakeholders, and thus work on continuous improvement.
