JOSÉ LUIS MUÑOZ Chief Executive Officers

José Luis took office as Chief Executive Officer of Aela in June 2019, after serving as Chief Operations Officer since April 2014. He holds a degree in electrical engineering from the Universidad Nacional del Nordeste, Argentina, and an MBA from the Universidad Privada Boliviana.He has developed an extensive career in the energy industry, holding important positions in different countries. José Luis was Commercial and Operations Manager for GDF Suez’s Monte Redondo wind farm in Chile prior to joining Aela. He has also held the position of Commercial and Operations Manager at Corani S.A., a Bolivian company belonging to GDF Suez that owns hydroelectric plants through its subsidiary Ecoenergy. He was also a member of the National Dispatch Committee, responsible for the Bolivian interconnected power grid.

ADRIÁN RATNER Chief Financial Executive

Adrián Ratner is an executive with strong experience in accounting, financial planning & analysis, strategy, regulatory, and commercial issues of electricity companies.He is BA in Economics, M.S. in Public Finance, and graduated as Economist from National University of Córdoba. He was CFO of Energuate, a Guatemalan economic group integrated by distribution, transmission and trading electricity companies, where he had a significant role in setting the strategic direction of the Company and introducing best-practices and processes.Before joining Energuate, he worked for AES, a global power company with generation and distribution businesses in 29 countries, and formerly as Partner Consultant of Quantum America Corp, a consultant firm of Energy Sector.With AES worked as Director of Strategy and Financial Planning in Central American and Caribbean, Brazil and at Global level in Arlington, USA.As Consultant, he has managed more than 60 consultant projects for electricity companies executed in 10 different countries of LATAM and in 4 countries of Africa. During the last years he has been Electricity Sector Consultant at the World Bank.

LUCAS TROITIÑO Director of Operations

Lucas joined the Aela Energía team in October 2020. With extensive experience in construction, operation and business management in the energy industry, he has made substantial contributions to renewable energy projects in China, Germany, Ecuador, Mexico, Chile and Argentina.He is an Energy Engineer from the Università Degli Studi Di Perugia, Italy; an Electromechanical Engineer from the Universidad Nacional de Mar del Plata, Argentina; and has an MBA from the Universidad Adolfo Ibáñez (UAI), Chile. In addition, he has a postgraduate degree from the GIZ agency in Germany on leadership in management of renewable projects, among other specializations. Before joining Aela Energía, Lucas worked in different countries for companies such as Envision, Celec, Goldwind and Fuhrlaender.

NICOLÁS ESPINOZA Head of ESG and Communications

Nicolás joined Aela in April 2014 as Head of Environment, Social and Governance in April 2014. He holds a degree in forestry engineering from the Universidad de Chile and an MA in development, management and assessment, University of Antwerp, Belgium.He has developed an interesting career in both the public as well as private sectors. Prior to Aela he worked as an environmental and social management consultant for projects related to the energy and mining sectors. He was also head of the National Irrigation Commission’s territorial development unit, part of the Chilean Agriculture Ministry. In addition, Nicolás was Executive Director of the NGO Tekhne, which undertakes rural development projects related to renewable energy, irrigation, agriculture and forestry.

CÉSAR VÁSQUEZ Commercial Director

César joined Aela's team in September 2014. He is a Civil Electrical Engineer, has a Master of Finance and holds a Diploma in Renewable Energies from the Universidad de Chile.He has 12 years of experience in regulation and energy markets in both the public and private sectors, with a focus on energy trading and regulatory matters. He has worked in consulting firms and in academic teaching, as well as in the Studies Division of the National Energy Commission (from the Spanish “Comisión Nacional de Energía”), and in the Market Unit of the Ministry of Energy, where he was in charge for several years of the National Energy Balance (from the Spanish “Balance Nacional de Energía” or “BNE”). Throughout his career, he has participated in the design and discussion of regulations that impact the energy sector.

DIEGO CORP General Counsel

Diego joined Aela as Legal Counsel in February 2020, after serving as Legal Affairs and Technical Services Manager, and Board member in HydroChile S.A. He received his law degree from Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile and took post-graduate courses from Universidad de Los Andes and Universidad Diego Portales.Diego started his career as trial attorney in Montt y Cia. S.A., holding subsequently corporate positions in the energy industry, where he acquired vast experience in legal, regulatory, M&A, project finance, compliance, and infrastructure and energy market areas.

ERIK UNDERWOOD Director of Corporate Finance

Erik Underwood is Director of Corporate Finance at Aela Energía, and joined the company in late 2019. Erik has a bachelor’s degree from Wesleyan University and an M.B.A. from The University of Chicago Booth School of Business, both in the United States. Erik’s role within Aela spans across finance and operations, including managing relationships with Aela’s key financial stakeholders and its shareholders. Erik has over 11 years renewable energy and cleantech experience, across the entire project value chain including developing, financing, constructing, and operating wind and solar projects across the Americas. Prior to Aela Energía, he worked at Marathon Capital advising renewable energy and clean-tech clients globally on M&A, equity capital raising, and strategic financing solutions. He previously had roles at Energize Ventures, Tesla, and Mainstream Renewable Power.


Carolina joined Aela's team in 2019. Since then, she has worked as Human Resources & Administration Manager. Carolina has a Business Administrator degree, holds an Advanced Diploma of Management in Human Resources from the Homesglen Institute in Melbourne, Australia, and a Diploma in Leadership and People Management from the Universidad de los Andes.With more than 12 years of experience, she has held various positions of responsibility, both in engineering and energy companies, highlighting among them her experience as HR Business Partner at Bechtel, Workday Implementation Analyst at AES and Senior People Advisor at WorleyParsons. Carolina is an active member of the Australian HR Institute and ACERA's human resources committee.
